Eligibility and Access to Health Services

Who Is Eligible?
The USF mandatory Health Fee (included in your tuition payment) gives you access to a team of first-rate medical and behavioral health providers and a variety of wellness services at Student Health Services (SHS) and the
Counseling Center. You are eligible to receive services at SHS provided that, at the time of service, you are registered to attend the USF Tampa campus and able to present a valid USF student ID card. If you are taking a semester off, or you graduated the previous semester, then you may elect to pay a voluntary health fee that grants the same access to SHS as any student who is currently registered.

Fees / Additional Charges
There is no out-of-pocket charge or co-payment for a basic provider visit at the SHS General Clinic. There may be out-of-pocket charges for minor procedures, laboratory tests, medications or medical supplies incidental to your visit. Treatment at specialty clinics like gynecology, antigen or immunizations often incur out-of-pocket charges depending on the services provided and the extent of insurance coverage. A wide selection of free and low cost services is available from the SHS
Health Promotion office. Those services include HIV antibody testing, nutrition counseling, outreach education, blood pressure, height and weight readings, condoms, REACH Peer Education, and SABBI.

Payment Methods
If there are charges accompanying your clinic visit, payment is due at the time services are rendered. You may pay by credit or debit card, charge to your University account, or by presenting a valid health insurance benefit card from a participating network. SHS is an in-network provider for more than 100 health insurance plans. At the time you schedule your appointment or when you check in at the clinic, please inquire about possible out-of-pocket charges and whether SHS is an in-network provider under your private insurance plan.

We look forward to supporting you by attending to your physical well-being so you can maintain wellness, stay in school and achieve your educational goals!
