Student Health Services Clinic

Open Access Appointment System

The Student Health Services Clinic operates using an open access appointment system that provides same day appointments to students based on schedule availability. This means that waiting times have decreased, therefore increasing patient satisfaction. However, in order for this type of system to function properly we recommend that students call or stop by the clinic in order to set up a same day (or next day) appointment based on availability. This procedure will help eliminate unnecessary waiting.

Nursing Services

The nursing services staff includes professional registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and medical assistants. These nurses are certified by the Florida Board of Nursing through written examination and are reissued licenses every two (2) years upon successfully completing the recertification requirements.

Nurses' responsibilities include triaging/assessing all patients who walk into Student Health Services seeking health care who do not have a prescheduled practitioner appointment. Based on data obtained in the triage process, the nurse will provide care by implementing appropriate assessment, treatment and/or referral, including a practitioner appointment as applicable. The nurses implement follow-up care and treatment to patients per practitioner orders when the physical examination is completed. The nurses are also assigned to staff the Women's Clinic and the Antigen Clinic.
