AlcoholEdu for College

PLEASE NOTE:  There are technical issues that are currently being resolved, therefore Part 2 is not accessible!  However, the deadline to complete Part 2 has been extended to Oct. 26, 2009, 11:59 pm.  Students will be notified through a Blackboard announcement when the issues are remedied.  If problems occur after that time, contact Jennifer Fuller at jfuller@shs.usf.edu.

Hello, First Year Student!

Congratulations on starting your journey at USF!

Here is some important information that will assist you in completing AlcoholEdu for College, which is one of three programs included in “Life Skills for Collegiate Success.”

The program is available through Blackboard (see login details below).  You can start taking Part 1 on July 23 – you will not be able to access the program prior to this date!

As you probably know, the course consists of two parts, both of which must be completed to satisfy the requirement. Please understand that all information you provide is confidential! Campus and AlcoholEdu staff will never see individual student surveys or responses. This is a non-academic course and does not have any impact on your academic GPA, however, if you do not complete the entire course, your registration for Spring classes will be blocked and your fall registration may be deleted.  Hold issues can be addressed at the Undergraduate Studies Dean’s Office (813-974-4051).

Part 1
Part 1 must be completed by August 17, 2009.  This will take approximately 2-3 hours to complete, however, it does not have to be done in one sitting. It includes:
-A pre-survey
-A pre-test on your alcohol knowledge
-The educational information (including sexual assault)
-An “exam” (not tied to your GPA) that you must pass with a score of 75% or
higher
-A post-survey

Upon completion of Part 1, nothing needs to be submitted to anyone at USF - we are able to access that information from the Outside the Classroom.

Part 2
After completion of Part 1, you will receive an email from Outside the Classroom, in about a month and half, with directions on how and when to complete Part 2. This part will take about 15 minutes to complete which includes:
-A review of alcohol and sexual assault information
-A final survey

Technical Support
If you experience technical difficulties, the
AlcoholEduOnlineTechnicalSupportCenter is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For support, click the "Technical Help" button in the upper-right corner of any active window in AlcoholEdu for College or call 1-866-384-9062. You do not need to be logged into the course to access the Help Site.

Typically, when a when user experiences problems with the course, it is most often a machine issue or due to a slow or congested internet connection. Most of the time, trying a different internet connection (going to a library, Kinko's, Cyber Cafe, etc.) will resolve the issue. It is also helpful if the course is the only window that is open (ex: don’t run iTunes, email, games, etc. when the course is active).

Please understand that USF does not oversee the technical process of the program and therefore does not have the capabilities to provide technical support.

Other Assistance
For non-technical questions, support, or assistance, please email jfuller@shs.usf.edu or call 813-974-4936.
