Where can I get tested for HIV and other STIS and what is involved with testing?
Asymptomatic STI testing is available at SHS Health Promotion. Possible screenings include HIV ($28), STI screenings are available at Student Health Services. Specific tests and costs include:
HIV ($28)
Syphilis ($5)*
Chlamydia and Gonorrhea ($45)
Herpes ($15-$30)*
Tests with an * are assessed a one time $10 draw fee.
Students can walk into or call SHS Health Promotion to make an appointment. Students who are experiencing a sign or symptom, or have come in contact with some one who was diagnosed with syphilis, Chlamydia, or gonorrhea are recommended to visit the main Student Health Services clinic or call or make an appointment on line at www.shs.usf.edu.

What are some signs and symptoms of STIs?
Although many people with an STI do not show signs of an infection, some people will show certain symptoms.
Women:
- unusual discharge from the vagina
- pain, burning or itching around the vagina
- pain in the pelvic area or abdomen, sometimes with fever or chills
- bleeding other than your usual period
- sores or blisters on the genitals or in the mouth
Men:
- discharge from the end of the penis
- pain or burning when urinating
- swelling around the groin
- sores or blisters on the genitals or in the mouth
- flu-like symptoms such as fever chills, aches in the joints or muscles
Where can a student go to get free condoms?
Students can pick up one bag of condoms per day in the main SHS building or in the SHS Annex. Five latex condoms are in each bag. When available, flavored and female condoms may be offered upon request.
Are birth control pills available at Student Health Services?
Yes! Students can use the Bulls Country Pharmacy for oral contraceptive refills.
