Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Bulls Country Pharmacy Located?
We are located on the first floor of the Marshall Student Center, off the atrium, directly across from the ATM’s.

When is the pharmacy open?
We are open Monday- Friday, 8AM to 5PM. We are closed on Saturday, Sunday, Federal Holidays and other days as designated by the USF President.

Who can get prescriptions filled at Bulls Country Pharmacy?
Students, Faculty and USF staff and their immediate family members are eligible to fill prescriptions.

What do I need to get a prescription filled?
You can bring in a written prescription, have your doctor call it in or send it via computer. Present you student ID and your prescription insurance card (if any). First time patients will need to fill out a short form asking for basic information.

Can I bring in prescriptions from my doctor back home?
YES! We will fill prescriptions from any licensed provider in the United States according to Florida Law. Out of State physicians may also call them in or send them electronically.

How do I transfer a prescription to Bulls Country Pharmacy?

The easiest and quickest way is to bring in the label from your last pharmacy prescription. If you don’t have that, we need to have your name, the name of the drug to transfer and the phone number of the pharmacy where you last had it filled. It also helps if we have your pharmacy insurance card in advance so we can tell if we can bill your insurance.

Do I have to bring my prescription from the Student Health Services Clinic to Bulls Country Pharmacy?
No, but we are a lot closer, and can probably fill it a lot quicker than the time it would take at other pharmacies. Keep reading for more advantages.

How do I get a refill?
Refill requests can be done by calling our refill line (813-974-2071, option 1), going to the website (
www.shs.usf.edu/pharmacy.aspx) or walking in during business hours. Refills called in or ordered on-line are usually processed within the hour if we are open. Those called in while we are closed will be done by 10 AM the next business day we are open. When you walk in, you will be put in line with all the other patients who walk in. Wait time is usually less than 15 minutes, but can get longer depending on how many people are waiting there.

Are prescriptions free?
Unfortunately, prescriptions are not free. We have special purchasing contracts to lower the cost of most medications and we pass on the savings to the patient. We will always give you a “CASH” or “non-insurance” price before filling your prescription and if we find that your insurance co-pay is higher than our price quote, we will give you the lower price.

How can I pay for my prescriptions?
We do NOT take cash! We take Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover. We can take debit cards if they have a Mastercard or Visa logo on them. You may also pay with “Bulls Bucks” or charge to your student OASIS account.

Do you take coupons?
We can now take several drug company prescription cards or coupons, but not all of them. Just bring your coupon or card to the pharmacy and we can look at it. We DO NOT take the coupons you cut out of the newspaper for anything else in the pharmacy.

What else can I get at the Bulls Country Pharmacy?
We have a wide variety of over-the-counter medications, health and beauty products, first aid items and nutritional snacks. Sorry – no drinks.

Who can I talk to about medication questions?
Pharmacy Manager, Karen Bachmann, is available to answer questions about prescription OR non-prescription products during business hours.  If you are not sure what to get for your condition, just ask.

Do you have inexpensive birth control pills and Plan B?
We have a large list of birth control pills that are $20/ cycle. We also have 4 popular brand name products at discounted prices just for students. Call or stop by to find out if we have what you need.  We have Plan B at a lower price than most local pharmacies. You must be at  least 18 years to purchase Plan B.

Can someone else pick up my prescription for me?
We do allow this, but we request that the patient tell us either when they drop off or call in their prescription and tell us the name of the person picking it up.

Why should I go to Bulls Country Pharmacy?
Besides the price, convenience and service, any profit Bulls Country Pharmacy makes goes back into Student Health Services to improve and expand health care for the students.
